Melvin, I'm so proud of this Carolina Basketball TEAM and so proud of you! I'm sure it's been hard for you, not getting many starts this year; but I love the way you guys are all playing together so unselfishly, each of you doing whatever Coach Williams asks of you for the benefit of the team. Actually, you, David and Jackie are among my favorite players this year, and I think you guys are crucial to the success of the team. Keep up the great effort, and best wishes to you in your future...including, of course, your NCAA Tournament future ;-)!

Sincerely,
The bus driver dude who picked you and Jawad up on the U Route, last fall, and asked you which one had the best 3-point shooting touch. Remember?

P.S. Thanks for sharing your personal story with us. It was very interesting, touching and inspiring!

The commenter above, Mac Poteat, deserves accolades for the way he works roundball into his bus driving technique. For instance: watch him set a pick on South Columbia at rush hour. He fakes a lane change that allows the bus ahead of him to pull out into the traffic flow. A team player to beat the band!

Your story has really touched me and the hearts of many others I'm sure. I would like to say that you serve as a role model for anyone growing up in the city who need one little outlet to see their way out of less fortunate situations. Congratulations on a job well done and keeping your head up!
