McCants to hold news conference, teammates mum on NBA
McCants is
holding a press conference at 2pm on Wednesday to announce his intention to enter the NBA draft. This isn't a big surprise.
How about the others? The pendulum has swung the other way from the post-championship euphoria and now it doesn't look so good. Felton apparently has made a decision but isn't telling anyone yet. It doesn't sound good for Carolina:
"It was difficult, but I think it's what's best for me,'' Felton said. "It's something I wanted."
It is unlikely that staying for his senior year is "something he wanted" more so than going to the NBA. I also don't recall a player saying it was "best" for him to stay another year. In that context they generally mean going to the NBA.
Both Sean May and Marvin Williams are noncommital at this point, but there is no reason to be optimistic as Sean led us to believe last week. We could see a snowball effect in fact. Sean had this to say:
"Would love to come back for my fourth year,'' May said, "but if it's a situation where I don't feel comfortable and the rest of my teammates do leave, it's an option that I may look at.''
I'm still leaning toward the opinion that they'll all make the jump to the NBA.
