UNC 47, Eastern Kentucky 35 (HALFTIME)
We started off playing our best ball of the year, but then EK started getting a bunch of backdoor shots and pressured us on the offensive end. The result? EK ended the half on a 23-8 run to bring a once 27 point lead down to 12.
We are beating EK in every stat category including turnovers. We have 12, they have 10. We need to do a better job of handling the extended pressure on the offensive end. We should be able to get Wright or Hansbrough open down low.
We are a little too eager to get in the passing lanes which is making it easy for EK to go backdoor. They've also gotten a couple of wide open looks from 3.
First half notes:4:10. 41-24. We are getting sloppy. We are not defending the backdoor cuts well at all. And EK's pressure is disrupting us.
11:26. 26-8. 10 of Eastern Kentucky's 12 shots have been 3 pointers! Many of which from really deep. Most have missed.
12:48. 24-6. Hansbrough is a monster, leading UNC with 8 points.
16:14. 15-3. I hate to say this, but this is the best this team has looked in a long time!
16:41. 11-3. Hansbrough seems to like his new mask. He's already made two shots.
17:00. 7-0. UNC off to a great start!
