UNC 73, Florida State 58
UNC broke the streak of four straight games with the lower seeded team winning in this year's ACC tourney. It wasn't easy though. While we led most of the game, FSU hung in there until the last part of the 2nd half.
Tyler Hansbrough made his masked debut. He said after the game he hates the mask, but the doctors really wanted him to wear it. It affected him throughout and his stats show it. The ACC leader in free throws shot only took 2 against FSU and scored 6 points total, a career low. His shooting percentage wasn't horrible (3-7), but you could tell he wasn't as aggressive as normal.
Wayne Ellington had a good shooting night going 6-12 from the field and 4-4 from the line to tally 18 points. Brandan Wright had a highlight reel alley oop from Q where 3/4 of his arm was above the rim. He also had 3 blocks in a solid defensive performance. Ty Lawson led the team in minutes played and served as the glue for the team. He has a knack for driving to the basket and finding the open man or going strong to the hoop for the score. He had 3 steals on the game.
Overall we played much better defense this game than in some of our recent outings. Let's hope we can keep it up against Boston College!
I didn't take my usual notes on the game because I was at a fellow Carolina fanatic's house watching the game on a 100 inch HD projector. Thanks Chuck!
