UNC 85, Maryland 88   Boxscore | Recap Here is a summary of the lead we blew today against Maryland to lose in OT: - 16 points at 14:13 - 8 points at 4:37 - 6 points at 1:37 NCAA Basketball Stats Our offense was pretty anemic in the second half. Ty Lawson is the only reason we didn't lose in regulation. Wayne Ellington was non-existent for much of the game. Why can he not create shots for himself? He's supposed to be our best 3-point shooter and he can never get open. Tyler Hansbrough didn't have a great night, but he did get a double-double (11 and 11). Who had the worst night? The refs!! They totally sucked (two games in a row). Danny's 4th foul. The last charge against Tyler where the Maryland fatty flopped (so clear from the replay). The two travels against Tyler. The NO-CALLS when Ty got mugged at the end of the game which enabled Maryland to send the game to OT. Sure, we didn't play well at the end, but I really hate to see the refs be a determining factor in the outcome of a game. We have a week off before our next game and we need it. Has he ever heard of mixing up a defense when night after night we get torched by other team's guards. Ever play a ZONE? The only time Roy won the big one years ago is because Felton and May refused to let his coaching cost them a champonship. Weren't they Matt's recruits? Get rid of Roy bring in George Karl. Teams lose the game themselves 99% of the time. We lost today because once again Tyler was stifled and no one on the outside could penetrate or create a shot, like every other time we lost. The refs had nothing to do with it. In fact, the refs were giving us calls we had no business getting at the beginning of the game. # posted by  Anonymous : 10:59 PM   well im not trying to be bob knight but the refs blew that sucker. Yes they were bad both ways for most of the game but at the end the refs decided they wanted to see an upset. Aside from the refs our offense just plain stagnant. I think we need more dribble penetration from our guards, particularly wayne. No way should we blow a 16 point lead to maryland of all teams with the talent we have. We never know which wayne is going to show up, his shot is either completely on or completely off. We need more from him if we are going to cut down the nets. But aside from all this at least we still have a lead in the acc and still control our own destiny. # posted by  Anonymous : 11:02 PM   I never said UNC got all the bad calls!! They have teams on the ropes and just stop playing. That has repeatedly happened this year. You don't get the sense that they have the heart of a champion. What has happened to Hansbrough? Before the year he was the greatest thing since sliced bread and now he's not even in the conversation for player of the year. He doesn't seem to play with the same tenacity or intensity that he did in previous years. This whole team is way overrated. No Final Four this year folks. If this is well meant ("I really hate to see the refs be a determining factor in the outcome of a game."), does that mean never ever watching a UNC game again? Oh well the previous forecast of a Nat'l championship seems to have been dependent on "one" defensive player (Marcus) and now all appears lost since he's semi-retired, Psycho isn't getting a free ride to the charity stripe (and he has a headache while Ty has a cold!), the refs are picking on UNC, Ellington is inconsistent, Green is returning to his foul trouble scenario, and Thompson can’t do it by himself?. Wait’ll next year when Tyler (Zeller that is) is healthy … Seems Psycho T overstaid his time … no forecast of a repeat as Nat’l POY and not a serious contender for ACC POY … can he even catch JJ?
