All-star game a goodbye to Ford
I'm glad to see
Coach Ford finally got another coaching gig. He'll be along side Coach Brown with the Pistons. I'm sure he'll do well. I'll miss hearing his commentary beside Woodie and Mick in the radio booth.
UNC, Louisville headline EA Maui Invitational
Carolina will open the EA Maui Invitational against BYU this year. First round games start Nov 22nd.
It really isn't that far away...
Say it ain't so, Bohlander to go
The
N&O is reporting that Justin Bohlander will not return to the Carolina Basketball team next year. His stepfather said Justin prefers to concentrate on his grades.
I for one am disappointed. Even though Justin was very inexperienced and lacked the muscle needed to play down low with the ACC big boys, he was a solid presence and you could count on him not to make very many dumb mistakes (which is uncommon for freshmen). His playing time twindled as the season progressed, which I thought was unfortunate, but Coach knows best.
Thanks for the solid PT Justin! Good luck with your classes.
Rogers off the UNC radar
InsideCarolina.com reports that Kevin Rogers is off the UNC radar. Normally this wouldn't be that bad, but there was a lot of buzz this summer that Rogers and fellow UNC recruit
CJ Miles wanted to attend the same school. Hopefully, CJ won't back out too, but there are
reports that his recent Kansas visit went really well.
Who would want to attend a school with an oversized bird on their center court? (Background: One of the changes Coach Bill Self made when he arrived on campus was enlarge the mascot image on center court of Allen Fieldhouse. I find it kind of distracting.)
Speaking of Forte...
If you read through the
Alumni game postgame quotes you'll actually get an update on Joseph Forte. Ever since his run-ins with the law last year (or was it two years ago?), I haven't heard much about him. Looks like he took some time off to get his personal life in order. Now he is playing basketball again, which is good to see. Even though he left Carolina early, before he was ready for the NBA, and got into a bunch of trouble, he is still part of the family. He endured some rough years at Carolina, and I for one hope he gets another chance in the NBA. He was one of the smoothest players I've ever seen at UNC...
Alumni Game Postgame Quotes
The yearly
family reunion always brings a smile to my face. A lot of the Carolina greats get together for a game and to raise money for a good cause (fighting diabetes). This year, a who's who from the Carolina family came back, including Stackhouse (who hosted the event), Antwan, Vince, JR Reid, Lynch, Reese, Haywood, Shammond, Derek Phelps, and Forte among others. I really need to go to this next year.
Here are some photos from the game:

First blog entry!
I'm excited! It is almost September which means basketball season is right around the corner. I considered creating a Carolina bball blog last year, but didn't. This year, especially after hearing about the
Hansbrough's news, I can't resist. Like last year, I intend to see every Carolina game. I typically watch them on TV instead of going to the Dean Dome where the view isn't as good. Actually, I missed the Coastal Carolina game last year, but that was only because it wasn't on TV. I did catch half of it on Yahoo Broadcast. I also attended Midnight Madness last year and am considering going again. If you are going,
let me know!
With this blog I intend to post all of the latest breaking news on Carolina basketball. I'll also post detailed game summaries of each game including my analysis of the players, coaches, crowd, commentators, and of course, the refs. It should be fun. This season should be very exciting. We are returning all the main guys back and are adding three solid recruits. Unfortunately,
Dickie V ranked Carolina Preseason #1, which means expectations are once again going to be unrealistic, but anything will be better than last year's Season of the Heartbreak with all the last minute losses! Please no more! Let's lace them up.
