UNC Stat of the Day:

Brandan Wright heading to NBA
No surprise. At least we got 1 great year out of him. Deon Thompson won't be a bad replacement either. I think we'll be ok ;-)
Brandan Wright Press Conference today at 4pm
From all indications, Brandan Wright will announce he is entering the NBA draft today. The big man is projected to go anywhere from 3-5 on most NBA draft boards.

It would be hard to turn down close to $10 million in guaranteed money over the next 3 years. Could you do it?
Hansbrough and Lawson staying another year
More good news! InsideCarolina is reporting that at the team banquet tonight, Tyler Hansbrough and Ty Lawson said they are going to stay another year. ESPN has more details.

When I first read the headline, my instant reaction was Brandan Wright must be leaving or else he would have announced as well. Officially he is still "undecided".

Even if Wright leaves, we are looking at this starting line-up next year:

- Ty Lawson, point guard
- Wayne Ellington, shooting guard
- Danny Green or Marcus Ginyard, small forward
- Deon Thompson, power forward
- Tyler Hansbrough, center

We'll be in the top 2 or 3 in next season's preseason poll (if not #1).
Wayne Ellington to return
No big surprise here, but Wayne Ellington made it official: he's returning next year to UNC. Roy said he expects to learn of the other players' decisions this week.
Roy Williams Earns Spot In Naismith Hall Of Fame
Congrats Roy! This is well-deserved.

University of North Carolina men's basketball coach Roy Williams has been elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Williams joins the Class of 2007 which also includes Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson, the 1966 NCAA champions from Texas Western University (now UTEP), coach Van Chancellor of Ole Miss and the WNBA Houston Comets, referee Mendy Rudolph and international coaches Fedro Ferrandiz of Spain and Mirko Novosel of the former Yugoslavia.

The announcement was made Monday in Atlanta, Ga. at the 2007 NCAA Men's Final Four. The formal induction ceremony will be held on Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.

Williams is the eighth Tar Heel coach or player to be elected to the Hall of Fame. Previous inductees include coaches Ben Carnevale, Frank McGuire, Dean Smith and Larry Brown. In addition, player/coach Billy Cunningham and players James Worthy and Robert McAdoo are already members of the Hall.
Hansbrough Named To Wooden All-America Team
University of North Carolina sophomore forward Tyler Hansbrough is one of 10 players selected to the John R. Wooden Award All-America Team and is one of five finalists for the national player of the year award named in honor of the former UCLA coach.
