Finally! Longer 3-point line coming in 08-09
A good portion of Carolina's losses over the last few years have been due to a 3 point barrage from a hot shooting team. A 15 or even 20 point lead used to mean something, but these days it is becoming increasingly common for teams to come back, in large part thanks to the 3 pointer.
I've thought for several years that the three point line should be extended. It is too easy for many of today's players. At long last, the NCAA has approved a longer three point line starting in the 2008-09 season. The NCAA committee also decided not to extend the lane, which means there will be more room between the three point line and the low post. This is good news for big men! Given Carolina's focus on getting the ball into the big men and running the floor (and not shooting 3 pointers), I think this is very good news.
